This site clearance and tree removal project in Cork involved the removal of multiple trees across a large area of land, with varying levels of complexity and access challenges. The objective was to clear the site efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of safety and making full use of specialist equipment to minimise manual handling and reduce the amount of climbing required.
Several mature trees were dismantled using a combination of traditional climbing techniques and a purpose-built excavator fitted with a TMK grab. The machine allowed stems to be securely held and controlled while cuts were made, significantly reducing the need for repeated climbing operations and enabling larger sections of timber to be processed safely from ground level.
Where necessary, our climber accessed the canopy to remove limbs and reduce the crowns before the machine-assisted dismantling began. Once the trees had been reduced to manageable stems, the excavator was able to grip, support and guide sections safely to the ground. This approach not only improved safety but also increased productivity, allowing the project to be completed far more efficiently than would have been possible using conventional methods alone.
Additional machinery on site assisted with moving timber, brash and woodchip around the work area. By mechanically handling heavy sections of timber, we were able to reduce physical strain on the team while maintaining a tidy and organised site throughout the project.
Once the trees had been removed, the remaining timber was processed and the site cleared of debris, leaving the area ready for its next stage of development. The project highlights how modern arboricultural equipment can be combined with skilled climbing and chainsaw work to safely tackle large-scale site clearance operations.
